Being in love with The Doctor was not an easy task. It was actually rather formidable, and you would know that to be true. You first met him when he was Eigth generation doctor. A young and deathly sick child, lying in a hospital bed, crying yourself to sleep. That was who he met, and that was the day you changed for the better.
When you first saw him, you thought he was apart of your imagination. A strange man randomly walking into your hospital room. You couldn't say anything to him, due to the multiple tubes running down your throat that assisted you in your breathing. You couldn't remember exactly what he said, but he gave you a stuffed rabbit, which you broke into tears at seeing and clutched it to you, and he gave you a small peck on the forehead, saying something like,
"You will get better. I promise."
And left the same way he came, without a care, and without a trace. You stared bewilderedly at the place wherehe had once been. But, you always clutched that stuffed rabbit, keeping very close to your heart. Slowly and steadily after his appearance, you had begun to get better and better. Until eventually, around the age of 15, you were discharged from the hospital. It was because of this, an event that was probably nothing but insignifacant but the most important thing in the world to you, that you called that mystery man, The Doctor.
However, the second time you met him, he was the Tenth, and it was odd, to say the least.
You've always prided yourself in the fact that you were a Medical Examiner. How you successfully graduated High School and College. Another thing that you prided yourself in was the fact that you loved oddities, and could ruin anyones mood with a simple joke. Ah yes, you were a fan of weird people, and had joined their ranks.
On the day of your second meeting, you were working late in the Morgue. You were just talking to your most recent client and you got a look at him, and said,
"Yup, he's dead."
As you began your examination, you noticed something odd. Something very odd. His fingers were twitching. you felt for a pulse and listened for a heart beat, but there was none. Humming in throught you scratched your head, about to write something down, when the mans hand wrapped itself around your neck in a choking grip. Gasping, you reached for his hand and tried to unravel it from your neck as the, well, once dead man began to sit up.
He began to speak in some kind of weird language. Your eyes began to water as you tried to breath, you looked around at everything, trying to find something to use, and you did. Reaching over you grabbed the scalpul and stopped the man in the eye. He made a weird shrieking sound and let go of you. Immediately, you made a run for the door, and locked the doors behind you. As you ran down the halls, you noticed others. By others, you meant other people who should've been dead. When they noticed you, they made a noise and began to follow after you.
"I feel like I'm in The Walking Dead! Gahhhhhh!!" You shrieked, and ran into someone.
"Nice to meet you, now, lets go!" The man said as he grabbed your hand and began to run with you behind him.
"I agree, we should go, but uh, where are we going?" You asked, "Is this the apacolips or something?"
"Oh. No, no. Not really." He stated and stopped running. He looked aorund and turned to you. "Um, which way is the exit?"
"To the left."
"Right, thank you."
"No, I said it was the left." He raised an eyebrow at your reply, he saw the serious look on your face and began to chuckle as you both started running again.
"What's so funny?"
"Nothing, nothing at all." He snickered and you tried to open the door.
"Dammit all! Its locked." You exclaimed and pulled out your keys.
"You might want to hurry." He stated, and looked back toward the zombie like beings that began to get closer.
"I'm working on it! Stupid keys!" You exclaimed in frustration. "I wish I had some sort of device that could unlock it without a key!"
"That, I can do." He walked up tp the door and pulled out a weird screw driver type thing and it unlocked the door. You looked at him in astonishment, as he opened the door for you.
"Ladies first." He stated, you nodded mutely and looked at him, like he had two heads, as you passed through the door. He shut it once you were out. He grabbed your hand once again as he began to run away from the hospital and toward some unknown destination.
"Now where are we going?" You asked him, and he turned to look back at you with a goofy smile.
"An adventure." He stated.
"Yes, well, that's all fine and dandy, but, well, we kind of have a zombie apacolips on our hands."
"They aren't zombies, and they'll disapear within a few hours. They're mostly harmless."
"Well as long as they're mostly harmless." You said sarcasticly. "If they're mostly harmless, then can we stop running?"
It was then that he noticed how raspy your voice sounded, and how heavy your pants were getting. He slowed to a stop and turned to look at you. Your face was flushed, and you held your chest like you were in pain.
"Are you alright, miss?" He asked.
"Don't call me miss, it makes me feel old." You responded, and told him your name.
"Well, you still didn't answer my question. Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine. Just, a little breathing trouble is all." You responded and stood up straight. "By the way, who are you?"
"They call me, The Doctor." He responded, straightening out his coat and smirking.
"Doctor? Doctor who?"
"Precisely!" He exclaimed in jovial excitment. You look at him in utter confusion.
"I need a drink." You muttered and rubbed your head. "Don't you have some sort of nickname? Like, John or something?"
"Nope, just The Doctor."
"Alright then, Doctor. Would you like to come to my flat for a cup of tea?"
Later on that eveing those zombie things did disapear like he said they would, and he explained to you what they were, and why they were there. Eventually, he told you who and what he was ("I'm a Time Lord." "Interesting, may I disect you, then?"), he invited you to travel with him.
"I would very much like to, yes." You replied and took a sip of tea.
"Wonderful, lets be off then."
"Wait, wait. If I leave, who's going to watch my cat?" You asked with sadened eyes.
"Hmm, your flatmate?" He pondered, and you shook your head.
"She's allergic, and she's in Germany for months at a time!" You whined.
"Family?" He asked.
"They're all dead." You replied, saying in a very casual way. He raised an eyebrow at your lack of emotion, before suggesting to just let it die. You gasped and became teary eyed. You leaned down and picked up the fluffy, fat, and orange tabby, and squeezed it in a hug as it let out a deep throated 'mahhh'.
"I can't leave Jaundice Billyruben to die!" He chuckled at the cats name. "He's my only family!" After that comment you rubbed the ats nose along your own, and The Doctor couldn't help but roll his eyes.
"Can't we take him, too?" You asked, and mustered up all your strength and put it into a very convincing puppy face.
"No! Why don't you just give it away, hmm? Hand him over to a nice shelter, where he'll get even fatter and die of a heart attack?"
"I said no!" He sighed, refusing to look at your face.
"Oh please Doctor!"
"It'll probably DIE during travel anyway!" He exclaimed and rubbed his temples.
"Cats chase awway loneliness, you know." Now that sentence caught his attention. He turned to look at you, and then he looked at the cat. Jaundice glared up at him and let out that unattractive meow once more. The Doctor sighed once more and gave in.
"Fine! You can take the cat! But! If we accidently leave it somewhere, it stays there and we aren't coming back for it." He stated, a stern look on his face as he stood.
"Oh thank you! Besides, I wouldn't take him outside into another dimension, or planet, or whatever it is! He's a house cat." You gave him the brightest and laargest smile he'd seen in a while. Your happiness affected him and he smiled with you.
And so, began the greatest journey in your life. Of course, you didn't find out that he was the same man who gave you the rabbit while you were in the hospital for awhile, and by that time you had already fallen in love with him.
